Abdul Fatah was born in Samarinda.
He spent the time for almost nineteen years for studying from elementary school till under graduate in Samarinda and advance to post graduate master in agronomy, with major on water management in Brisbane.
Most parts of the school were supported by schoolarship, from Pemprov Kaltim at senior "agricultural" high school or widely known as "SPMA", Unilever at bachelor deegre of UNMUL Samarinda, and Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) at master of agricultural studies in the University of Queensland.
Professional work was started in 1991 at Lembaga Komputer Terpadu of Kompas Gramedia Group as computer instructure in SMA Katholik and SMKN 1 Samarinda.
In 1992 served as interpreter for German Expert who conducted field research in the upstream Mahakam (Barong Tongkok). At the end of 1992 worked as farming system consultant of GTZ project in East Kalimantan and lasted in 2000. After being interrupted with joining master study overseas for about two years, in 2003 worked as part timer researcher in the R&D body of East Kalimantan Province (widely known as BALITBANGDA) and lasted in 2008.
Apart of that, working as researcher was also provided to BALITBANGDA of Kutai Kartanegara District; Regional R&D Centre of UNMUL (known as PUSLITBANGWIL); Environmental Project (known as GTZ Pro-LH); R&D, Training, and Archieve Body of Samarinda (known as BADL); and Regional Planning Board (known as BAPPEDA) Samarinda.
rofession as lecturer was started in 2004 in the Faculty of Agriculture, the 17 of August 1945 University in Samarinda. Several subjects taught were English, Introduction to Regional Development, and Tree Crops Culture.
